Donation from the Seattle Mariner’s and Centerplate

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Skagit County is pleased to announce a generous donation from the Seattle Mariner’s and Centerplate in the amount of $6334.09 in memory of Rick Kaminski. The donation comes from the proceeds of peanut sales at Safeco Field this past July and a donation from the Mariner’s non-profit foundation Mariner’s Care. As one of our organization’s biggest supporters, Rick used his unique skills to help our fundraising efforts for many years. Thank you to the Mariner’s, Mariner’s Care and Centerplate – This donation in honor of “The Peanut Man” will allow us to make a difference in the lives of Skagit County youth and teens. Thank you to Candi, Rick’s longtime partner, for ensuring Rick’s memory lives on through his charity of choice at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Skagit County.

Great ideas

The Mount Vernon Club is learning that young people can make a difference in the world! Along with our lesson plan on elections, several of our club members have taken the time to write letters to President Obama. Our hope is to not only build confidence in their writing abilities but empower them with the belief that with action, a good idea can turn into reality!

Some of our club members suggestions to help make the world a better place included cleaning up litter, being respectful, being happy and nice to your family and friends, and don’t be a bully! Great ideas from a great group of kids!

Donation from Jerry & Jeri Kaufman

A great big huge thank you goes out to Jerry & Jeri Kaufman who donated their amazing collection of McDonald’s Toys and Memorabilia to the Boys & Girls Club! The donation is in memory of Myrna Kaufman who started the collection in 1983 and continued until 2003. Myrna’s collection is very unique; it includes not only Happy Meal Toys, but many McDonald collectible items. The collection is valued at over $10,000. The proceeds from the sale of these items will help the Boys & Girls Clubs teach teens how to sell items on Ebay and also how to be philanthropic and help the organization that does so much for them! Thank you Jerry and Jeri!
