January Youth of the Month

Kortnei L., age 7

Kortnei attends Little Mountain Elementary and became a Club member this past October. Kortnei has a positive attitude and warm smile, which she shares with those around her.  She is always willing to help out staff and other Club members.

 

     

Dylan B., age 8

Dylan attends Lincoln Elementary and joined the Club in March 2014.  Dylan participates in a variety of Club activities.  His character and positive attitude makes him a role model for other Club members.

Adrian A., age 7

Adrian attends Madison Elementary School and has been an Member at the Mount Vernon Boys & Girls Club since Summer 2013.  Adrian has been working hard to complete his homework and do well in school, attending the Power Hour program daily.

Andrew attends Centenial Elementary School and has been a Member at the Mount Vernon Boys & Girls Club since June 2014.  Andrew regularly participates in Triple Play activities and challenges and displays  great sportsmanship.

Davina M.
, age 6

Davina attends Madison Elementary and is brand new to the Club joining in December. In her short time at the Club, Davina has been a constant participant in the Art program, enjoying each project that the Club has to offer.

Daily Challenges are a Slam Dunk

Basketball Daily Challenges

This rotation pass drill is designed to work on the core while also encouraging communication between partners.

Throughout the month of January, the La Conner Club has held Daily Challenges all geared towards basketball. With a variety of challenges focusing on different aspects of the game such as: dribbling, agility, passing, and shooting form. Members are getting a chance to get out and be active while learning how to set short term as well as long term goals for fitness.Triple Play

Triple Play Daily Challenges take place every day at the Club from 3:00-4:00pm. LC Youth of the Month – January 2015

Eliza, age 10

Eliza has been a member for 5 years.  She is always in a positive mood and gets involved in many Club activities including Torch Club, Power Hour, SMART Girls and Triple Play Games.  Eliza loves “most everything” about the Club and wants to earn a college degree.

Kale, age 6

Kale is in Kindergarten and is enjoying his first year at the Club.  He has excellent manners and is always a big help when it is time to clean the Education Center.  Kale’s favorite game to play at the Club is checkers.  When he grows up, he hopes to become a fireman.

Annie, age 11

Annie has been attending the Club for 3 years.  In the past she has been very active in Torch Club and continues to enjoy field trips and Club fundraisers.  Annie’s favorite thing to do at the Club is hang out in the Teen Corner, but she also enjoys Cooking Club.  Annie’s goal for the future is to become a lawyer.

Homework All-Star
Kyle, age 6

Kyle is in his second year of membership at the Club.  He likes to get his homework done at the Club because then he has more time to play!  Games involving blocks, Legos, or Power Rangers are  his favorites.  When he grows up, Kyle wants to be a real estate agent like his dad and sell houses.

Triple Play MVP
Soleil, age 10

Soleil has been a member for 3 years and loves getting involved in Triple Play activities as well as Torch Club, SMART Girls and Cooking Club.  Soleil has shown great improvements in her sportsmanship over this school year and Club Staff are so proud of her!  In the future, Soleil hopes to work at the La Conner Boys & Girls Club so she can help kids.

Cole, age 9

This is Cole’s second year at the Club.  He is very involved in Torch Club but his favorite place at the Club is the Art Room.  Pencil drawings are Cole’s favorite kind of art and someday he hopes to earn a living by selling his drawings.

Mykila attends La Venture Middle School and has been a Member at the Mount Vernon Boys & Girls Club for 4 months.  Mykila is vibrant, energetic and has a great attitude with the younger members.

Hector F., age 8

Hector attends Centennial Elementary School and has been an Member at the Mount Vernon Boys & Girls Club for three months.  Hector has improved drastically, while Homework used to be a struggle he has made an excellent turnaround and now attends every day!
