Erin Huffstodt– Youth of the Year -2016

Erin is a Junior at Anacortes High School. She has been a member of the Anacortes Club since 2006. Outside of the Club Erin participates in a multitude of extracurricular activities such as varsity basketball, golf, Honors Society, Green Club, KeyClub and Yearbook Staff.

Claire Severin– Youth of the Year -2015

Claire is 18 years old and is a Senior at Anacortes High School. When not at the Boys & Girls Club, Claire is a past member of the award winning FIRST Lego Robotics team at Anacortes High School and a member of the Girls Scouts of America, currently working to complete her Gold Award by beginning a FIRST Robotics Team in elementary schools. Claire is set to graduate from Anacortes High School this June and plans to go on to college to study Chemical Engineering.

Karen Gallardo– Youth of the Year -2014

Karen is a Junior at Anacortes High School and has been a Club Member since 2006. Karen has completed over 100 hours of service to the community and has served as both Keystone Vice President as well as current President. She participates service clubs with the Anacortes High School and was a founding member of the all girls singing club “Canta Dulche.” As a 2nd Generation US Citizen, Karen’s passion lies in helping others learn english as a second language, so after graduation she will be returning to Equador, where her parents came from, to become a teacher.

Alexis Huffstodt– Youth of the Year – 2013
Alexis is in ninth grade at Anacortes High School, having joined the Boys & Girls Club in 2004 at the age of six. She has participated in every Club activity available, from S.M.A.R.T. Girls to the Junior Staff program. This past year, Alexis participated in the Teen Leaders Career Launch program as well as taking on the position of Keystone Club President. Alexis is a great role model for her peers, and for younger members around the Club. The staff at the Anacortes Club is proud to support Alexis Huffstodt as their 2013 Youth of the Year.

Geoffrey Hamilton – Junior Youth of the Year

Geoffrey Hamilton is 11 years old and a 5th grade student at Island View Elementary. He has been a Club member since 2007 when he first turned 6. Geoffrey is a great volunteer and role model around the Club, participating in the Junior Staff program (earning the role of MVP,) as well as helping in the Art Room and Power Hour room. Aside from his help during Club hours, Geoffery has put in numerous hours of work volunteering for the Club when it is closed. He has helped at multiple Club events, always eager and excited to share his Club experience with community members and peers. The Anacortes Club is proud to support Geoffrey as their 2013 Junior Youth of the Year.

Youth of the Year Elijah Zachry.

Elijah Zachry – 2012
Elijah is 13 and in eighth grade at Anacortes Middle School. He has been a Boys & Girls Club member for five years. Elijah “EZ” has received Boys & Girls Club Academy Awards for Most Helpful 2011 and Best Attitude 2012. He has been a role model and leader at the club and to his peers, focusing on his academics as part of the Anacortes Middle School’s AVID program. He also had perfect school attendance for the 2010/2011 School Year and was part of the 2011 All-Star Baseball team. EZ has taken on leadership roles at the club, assisting with special events. He has participated in 2 sessions of the Anacortes Club’s Teen Leader Program which is a Career program in which teen members prepare resumes, cover letters, and complete and interview process to be selected into a volunteer job shadow program at the club. Elijah is an outstanding young adult and we are excited to have him represent the qualities and values of the Boys & Girls Club as our Teen Youth of the Year.

Erin Huffstodt – 2012
Erin is 11 and a sixth grader at Fidalgo Elementary School. Erin has been a member since she joined the club on her 6th birthday. Erin has participated in the Boys & Girls Club Junior Staff program for three sessions and has won the MVP award for most volunteer hours in Junior Staff all three times. Through participation in Junior Staff, club members will develop interpersonal skills, a strong work ethic and a sense of community engagement while experiencing on-the-job Club work. She has been the recipient of multiple Club Academy awards including 2007 Most Enthusiastic, 2009 Best Laugh, 2010 Most Helpful, and 2012 Future Staff. Erin is a straight A student, plays basketball and will be traveling overseas to England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales with a Youth Summer program called People to People. Erin is a responsible young adult with outstanding character and leadership skills and is respected by her peers and adults and the Boys & Girls club congratulates her on this award.
