#BeActive Long Jump

Week 2 of #BeActive was a huge hit yesterday, as we took members out to the track and taught them how to long jump.

Led by Christina Barsness and Kendrick Davis-Pittmon, both track & field athletes themselves,  members went through the warmups, stretches, and prep work that goes into this field event.

After they got the basics down, members got a chance to practice what they learned on the runway and jumped into the sand pit!

#BeActive is a series of sport specific clinics that emphasize the fundamentals of each sport and help to elevate the skillset of any level athlete.  It runs every Thursday during the month of November. This month, #BeActive  is focusing on track & field.

Here is a look at the upcoming weeks:

  • November 8th: 400 meter run
  • November 15:  200 meter dash
  • November 29th: Throws (Frisbee discus & foam shot put)
