Behind the Scenes at the Regal Summer Movie Express
This week during the Summer Movie Express trip, La Conner Club Members watched Racing Stripes (PG).
Afterwards, they were given a behind-the-scenes look at how the Regal Barkley 16 IMAX & RPX Cinema is run. One of the assistant managers explained how in recent years, cinemas moved from having giant film reels and an attendant working each theater’s projector to having 16 fully automated machines that control everything from the commercials we see prior to a movie being shown, to the lights being turned down. Instead of the giant reels, every movie is sent to theaters in a digital form resembling a hard drive.
One of the coolest features Members learned is, for 3D movies, the projector lens uses a 3D amplifier. So, both the machine and viewers are using a pair of 3D glasses.
We want to send a big thank-you to managers Jamie, Tami, and the entire Regal Barkley 16 IMAX & RPX Cinema staff for working with the La Conner Club to make the summer extra special.
