Culture Club @ SW

Culture Club in Sedro-Woolley is off to a big start. Members this week were visited by Elizabeth Hertlein who gave the kids a slide show presentation on the two months she spent living in the Netherlands. The kids were interested to find out that Holland is not a country, but one province of many which make up the Netherlands. They were, however not surprised at all to hear that Holland’s trade mark wooden clogs are not at all comfortable. Then when Elizabeth mentioned the small town of Gouda, everyone could relate and we got to talk about our love of cheeses! Other topics of interest were some of the cultural differences, like the town she was living in not only had a curfew for all citizens, but also closed its gate entirely on weekends. Overall we were given an insightful view about what life is like in the Netherlands.
