Fall Positive Sprouts Harvest

Positive Sprouts

Club Members Morgan, Sammy, Carter, Rachel, and Moriah show off their first fall harvest.

This week at the La Conner Club, Members harvested pumpkins and squash from the raised-bed gardens outside the Club. Members planted seeds in early Spring, so they were really excited to see their hard work pay off. Since April of this year, Club Members have tended the garden 2-3 times a week to weed, plant, and learn about how to create and maintain a sustainable garden.

The Positive Sprouts Program focuses on combating the growing obesity crisis among America’s youth by educating young people on the importance of eating nutritious foods and living healthy by building and maintaining community gardens. This program was led by Community Council Member, Greg Ellis with help from Program Assistants Audrey Kramer and Christina Barsness

Positive Sprouts will start back up in April 2014.
