Chess Club

Teen Members playing chess

Teen Members get serious about chess.

Project LearnChess teaches children many important life lessons including confidence, patience, and discipline. It increases high-level cognitive functioning and has been linked to improvements in learning and development.

At the Anacortes Club, volunteer Peyton Kane offers Club Members multiple opportunities each week to learn and play the game of chess. Peyton helps Anacortes Members learn how to set up the board, the rules of the game, and basic strategies.

If you are interested in leading the chess program at our La Conner, Mount Vernon, or Sedro-Woolley Club, please visit the Volunteer page for application materials and contact information.
