Healthy Habits: Teeth & Bones

During Healthy Habits at Anacortes, members learned about the importance of dental hygiene.  Recent research shows that the simple act of brushing one’s teeth can help prevent heart disease and other chronic disease in adulthood. Healthy dental health habits begin at an early age. Brushing teeth at least twice a day (if not after every meal), flossing daily, and visiting the dentist every six months are essential habits to maintain dental health. The importance of maintaining healthy bones was also discussed. Exercising 60 minutes a day and getting enough calcium, vitamin D, and phosphorous in your diet are critical to creating and maintaining healthy bones.

After our lesson, we made healthy Mocha Brownies. Club member Nika earned the privilege of picking our recipe this week due to her regular attendance and outstanding attitude. Trust us, they are AMAZING! To try them out at home, follow the directions below!
