Keystone Food Drive

This past month members of the Mount Vernon Boys & Girls Club Keystone Club planned and orchestrated a Neighborhood Food Drive. Recognizing that many of the food drives in our county often occur around the holidays and because the need for food and hunger is a daily concern for many families our Teens decided that holding a post-holiday food drive would be a great service project for them to take on during the month of March.
To kick off the food drive, Teens spent three hours walking to nearby residential areas in Mount Vernon to deliver bags and a letter describing their mission of collecting donations of canned food and other non-perishable items that would benefit families within our community. The following week the Keystone Teens walked the same route to collect the donations that local residents had generously given. Our Teens were able to collect 186lbs of food in one week and proudly deliver it to Skagit County Community Action.
Overall, the Mount Vernon Keystone Club 1st Annual Food drive proved to be a great success that will help to benefit local families in need.
