LC Learns About Medicines
On Friday, La Conner’s SMART Kids discussed different types of medicines and learned that it is important to use all medicines appropriately. Youth first defined needs for medicine and noted who they should administer the medicine. For example, vaccines can only come from a doctor, but a parent or friend can fix Members a nice bowl of chicken soup when they’re sick. Members then participated in a musical chairs-like game to test their knowledge on harmful vs. helpful drugs and medicines.
SMART Kids gives Club Members the skills and training to stay healthy in all aspects of life. By learning to respect ourselves and each other, and to resist peer pressure, Members learn how to safely resist unhealthy substances.
SMART Kids meets Fridays from 4:00p.m. – 5:00p.m. If you are interested in signing up your Member, please contact Club Program Director, Leah Vazquez at (360)466-3672.
