As part of Regal Entertainment Group’s Summer Movie Express, Regal is treating the La Conner Boys & Girls Club youth to enjoy blockbuster hits and beat the heat this summer. Through a partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Regal Entertainment Group is providing the Club with a grant to help cover expenses like transportation, snacks and low-cost tickets for its members.

The La Conner Boys & Girls Club is receiving one of 80 grants that will be awarded this summer by Regal Entertainment Group. As part of the initiative, Regal Barkley Village Stadium 16 IMAX & RPX located in Bellingham will  offer La Conner Club members $1 admission to a predetermined G or PG rated movie, which may include such anticipated summer films as  Journey 2: The Mysterious Island or  Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days.

For Club Members, the Regal Summer Movie Express program also provides an opportunity for fun with a purpose—including the chance for the La Conner Boys & Girls Club to implement at least two learning activities that incorporate the Regal experience. The Club will select from such activities as establishing a book club, reading movie-themed book, and taking a tour of the theater and projection rooms.

“Regal Entertainment Group is proud to partner with local Boys & Girls Clubs through these grants to cover their costs such as transportation,” said Russ Nunley, Vice President of Marketing and Communications for Regal Entertainment Group. “Regal believes that this summertime series for kids helps to instill a love of movie-going in the next generation.”

“Our Boys & Girls Club members are absolutely thrilled to participate in Regal Entertainment Group’s Summer Movie Express,” said Kendrick Davis-Pittmon, La Conner Club Director. “The number of youth we expect to serve in the La Conner & Swinomish communities may double during the summer months, so we’re always extremely grateful for opportunities that combine fun with engaging learning activities that help our youth stimulate their minds and prevent summer learning loss, one of our biggest goals.”

The La Conner Boys & Girls Club will be one of four Clubs in Skagit County opening their doors this summer. Monday through Friday from 12:00pm – 6:00pm, June 24 – August 15. Free lunch & snacks will be provided to ALL youth (regardless of Boys & Girls Club membership) living in the La Conner and Swinomish communities ages 1-18.  For more information about the Regal Summer Movie Express or other programming at the La Conner Boys & Girls Club, contact Club Director Kendrick Davis-Pittmon at (360) 466-3672 x. 23
