Angela has nineteen years of experience in youth development. She has worked with young adults and children at her church, and during High School and College she taught students part-time as a piano instructor.

After college, Angela worked for the Mount Vernon School District as a substitute teacher and then as Reading Tutor-Instructional Assistant at Centennial Elementary. Angela is also a trained facilitator for the Strengthening Families Program and has taught and hosted several of the classes in Anacortes and at the Club.

Angela was hired by the Boys & Girls Clubs in 2001 as a Program Lead at our Mount Vernon Club. She took over as Club Director in Anacortes in October 2003 and had been a leader in that community for 10 years. We are thrilled to have her back at the Mount Vernon Club.

Angela has an AA transfer degree from Skagit Valley College and a B.A. in Sociology from Western Washington University.

She lives in Mount Vernon with her husband K.C. and son Isaac.

Erik attended the Mount Vernon Boys & Girls Club starting in middle school through sophomore year of high school where he was our first Member (has the membership card to prove it). He has since graduated high school and attended Skagit Valley Community College, studying education.

He has six years of experience working with youth. He spent one year working at the middle school, one working as the Teen Power Hour Tutor at the Sedro Woolley Boys & Girls Club, and is currently on his sixth year at the Mount Vernon High School working as an AVID Tutor.

Erik is excited to work with the Club Members and helping maintain an environment for kids to continue learning.

Bobby is a Mount Vernon Boys & Girls Club Alumni and attended the Club for 13 years since joining at the age of 6.  Bobby served as Boys & Girls Clubs of Skagit County Youth of the Year in 2014, representing Skagit County Club’s at the State Competition and being a spokesperson for the Club as various Club and community events.  

Bobby began his work as an intern at the Club when he was 16 and later transitioned into a part-time Youth Development Professional.  Bobby runs Triple Play activities and games each day at the Club and has also run the Passport to Manhood and Healthy Habits programs. 

Bobby has attended the University of Washington and is currently a student at Skagit Valley College.  He has also had the opportunity to work for a short time with Boys & Girls Clubs of King County. Bobby enjoys running and has run in 2 ½ marathons and 1 marathon.  He is also quadrilingual and can English, Spanish, French, and Italian.

Brian Gustafson is new to Washington State however; he is not new to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. With over 20 years of experience in Youth Development, Brian has had the opportunity to work in all five regions of BGCA. He comes to Mount Vernon from Rio Rancho, New Mexico where he has been working for Rio Rancho School District’s Students Achieving for Excellence (SAFE) program—a before and after school program for the last eight years. He also coached 8th grade girls basketball for the last six years. Brian is a graduate of Central New Mexico Community College, Albuquerque, New Mexico with an Applied Associate’s degree in Integrated and is a husband and a father two boys, ages 14 and one. He is passionate about working with youth, the Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s philosophy, and is excited to be a part of the team in Skagit County. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, watching sport and traveling.

Jayne has a solid history with the Clubs as a supporter and Community Council Member. Originally from upstate New York, Jayne has lived in Mount Vernon since 2002 with her husband Lee. They also inherited 14 chickens with the property and enjoy lots of fresh eggs! 

Jayne earned a Bachelors of Science in Community Health Education. She loves the philosophy of the Clubs, saying “I have seen kids’ lives transformed.” She has witnessed the growth and development of the Clubs in Skagit County as is thrilled to be a part of it—working to partner with the schools in innovative ways with programs like 21st Century and AmeriCorps.

Colton has been an incredibly valuable member of the Club staff since the fall of 2012, recently moving to the 21st Century Program from the Sedro-Woolley Club. He’s worked with all ages,  running Healthy Lifestyle and Triple Play programs, Fine Arts projects with the Teens, assembling nutritious snacks for Healthy Habits or hanging out talking about Pokémon. No matter where Colton is, he always has a smile on his face.
