Justice Lively – Youth of the Year

Justice, age 18, has been a member of the Boys & Girls Club in Mount Vernon for over 7 years. This year Justice was also named Washington State Youth of the Year and will continue on to the Regional this July. He is graduating a from Mount Vernon High School—a proud Bull Dog and will continue on in his studies to be a Pediatric Nurse.

Justice, age 15, has been a member of the Boys & Girls Club in Mount Vernon for over four years. He has overcome significant challenges in life, but he has always brought a positive outlook and a cooperative demeanor to the Club. Justice enjoys helping younger kids at the club, and the positive interaction with Club staff. Justice believes in giving back. Some of his volunteer activities include participation in Keystone Club, helping at the Haunted Forest, serving food to those in need, and enthusiastically assisting with food drives. As an actor and performer, you can often catch him on stage at Mount Vernon High School theater productions. In his spare time, he enjoys improv, reading and gaming.His future plans include attending college, joining the ROTC, and ultimately serving in the Marine Corps.

Miriam Padilla – Junior Youth of the Year

Miriam Padilla is 11 years old and has been a member at the Mount Vernon Boys & Girls Club for 3 years.She is currently in 6th Grade and attends Little Mountain Elementary School. Miriam came to us the summer before she started 4th grade and has been a kind, helpful, gentle, willing, smart and exuberant member! Miriam loves to join in any program running during the day especially Torch Club where she gets to give back to the community, Triple Play Programs where she can be active and healthy and Art Projects where she can express her creativity. She’s truly a positive force in the club, relating to younger and older club members alike. Miriam makes a positive impact at the Mount Vernon club every day.

Bobby Castro
 is currently a sophomore at Mount Vernon High School. He has been attending the Mount Vernon Boys & Girls Club since he was six years old. Bobby joined the Boys & Girls Club in 2001 while attending Madison Elementary school. From the time that he joined as 1st grader until now, Bobby has been involved in virtually every program that the Mount Vernon Club has offered.

As a younger member Bobby was always excited to attend the Boys & Girls Club to participate in Triple Play activities and show off his skills in Art Club; along with hang out with his friends and the caring staff.

Currently as a teen, Bobby truly enjoys the Career Launch program which helps fellow teenagers to explore potential career pathways. He is currently in the process of applying to become a Teen Leader at the Mount Vernon Club. Bobby also participates in the Keystone Service Club,  Money Matters program, Teen Nights and the Power Hour Homework program where he assists younger members with their homework and reading. His favorite part of the Boys & Girls Club is the Healthy Habits Fitness Challenges!

Bobby believes that by attending the Mount Vernon Boys & Girls Club  it has helped to teach him the importance of becoming a leader and characteristics of responsibility and respect. His goals for the future are to attend college at UW or USC and major in biology with a minor in genetics and become a Cardiothoracic or Neurosurgeon!

Amador Quiroga is currently a 6th grader at Jefferson Elementary. He has been attending the Mount Vernon Boys & Girls Club since he was 6 years old.

Since becoming a member Amador has been very involved with programs including Junior staff, Chess Club, Power Hour and daily Triple Play Sports activities.  Amador is a great role model to younger members and is always willing to help everyone around the club.

Amador’s favorite part of attending the club is getting to go outside and play with his friends.  In attending the Mount Vernon Club Amador says it has helped teach him about the importance of getting good grades and goal-setting. His goals for the future include going to college and then becoming a professional soccer player. 

 

 

Youth of the Year

Brianna Rodriguez is a fifth grader at Centennial elementary and has been attending the Mount Vernon Boys & Girls Club since she was 6 years old.

Brianna has been a very actively involved member around the Mount Vernon Club.  She participates in Smart Girls,  arts and crafts,  Triple Play Recreation Activities, Cooking Club and the Power Hour Homework program. She is also one of our Junior Staff Members.  Brianna comes to the Club everyday with a positive attitude!

Her favorite part of attending the club is hanging out with other members and helping staff. Brianna states that attending the Mount Vernon Club has taught her how to respect others and has allowed her to learn new things. Her goals for the future are to get an education & become a doctor.
