21st Annual Golf Tournament ReCap

DSC_0055The weather couldn’t have been much better, on Friday, August 12th for the Clubs’ 21st Annual Golf Tournament. Between the weather, a good field of golfers, and the excitement of a hole in one, the day was a great success. With the philanthropic involvement beating out last year’s record, as well, and thanks in large part to the continued support of Blade Chevrolet, this year’s Tournament will be fondly remembered.

The Golf Tournament has been a major part of the Clubs’ yearly calendar for more than two decades. As a very fun way to get out and support the youth members & families who enjoy the great programs after-school and during the summer, the incredible staff who give selflessly for the kids, and the astounding community impact that the Clubs have throughout the area, the Tournament is an afternoon of “golfing fore great futures!” With games, prizes, laughs, great food & drinks, and a wonderful time to relax and enjoy time on the links, the Tournament has become known for being a blast.

Aside from the golfers who came out to enjoy a day of philanthropic investment for the 1,600+ members who walk through the doors of the Clubs, and the amazing sponsors who underwrite the event, including Judd & Black Appliance, Mike Gubrud– Farmers Insurance Agency, Bayside Specialties & Burlington Morning Rotary, Lakeside Industries, Skagit Tranpsortation, Swinomish Casino & Lodge, and Heritage Bank, a major highlight was the hole in one, hit by Jake Hubbard of Dreamchasers RV. With the 200 plus yard shot claiming a new set of golfing attire & accessories, the hole in one was a surprise and delight to Jake, his team, and the bystanders & volunteers. And it will be one for the records.

With another Tournament completed, and our golf clubs put away (collecting dust?) for next year, we want to be sure to thank everyone who made the day a success. To our volunteers, especially, who make the afternoon fun, exciting, and with great games, it wouldn’t be the same without the countless hours of help. With veteran returners, like the Foresters and Marines Corps League, as well as new groups, like Kohl’s, we’re very proud to celebrate such a selfless bunch. Thanks for making the day so memorable.

We’ve got some of our photos on Flickr and hope to post more by the end of next week, so check back soon. https://www.flickr.com/gp/skagitpride/2F5U0F
