Alivia recently relocated here to Burlington, WA and is excited to get to know Skagit Valley and the Northwest. Originally from Whitewater, WI, Alivia has a degree in Health & Human Performance and a Minor in Health Promotion from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.  Alivia started going to the Boys & Girls Club when she was 8 years old.

Alivia is an outstanding volleyball player and was with the UW-Whitewater Women’s Volleyball Team when they won Two Conference Tournament. She was named 2012 All-American and set a new record for blocks per set. She loves spending time with family, friends and any outdoor activity.

Shane joined the ranks of the Boys & Girls Club in August as the Healthy Lifestyles Coordinator. Shane has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Work from Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, ID. With 9 years’ experience as a child care director and a behavioral specialist, and 3 years’ experience playing collegiate basketball, he is a great fit to conduct the SMART Moves curriculum with programs for all Club Members, as well as Passport to Manhood, the Triple Play fitness program and Healthy Habits.

Shane and his wife Amy have two kids with a third on the way. The Collins’ family enjoys camping and the beach, as well as spending time with friends and family.

Patrick Ryan Dougher has nine years of experience working in the youth development field. He spent 2 summers working as a camp counselor for Hidden Valley Camp in Granite Falls, WA, where he was a group counselor for the older boys groups. In December of 2005 Patrick was hired as a Program Assistant for the Sedro-Woolley Boys & Girls Club. In December 2006 he was promoted to the Teen Program Lead and was hired as the Teen Center Coordinator for the new Teen Center in July 2012.

Prior to working in the youth development field he worked for different retail outlets and a movie theater. Patrick has taken a smattering of philosophical, literary and theological classes at Skagit Valley College.

As a child he lived in several National Parks throughout the country, but spent the majority of his years in Lyman and Sedro-Woolley. He now lives in Mount Vernon and enjoys comics, D&D, writing, and zombie defense strategizing.

Mathew brings a strong educational background to the table with a B.A. in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Religion and Culture from Western Washington University. He appreciates the way in which the Clubs are a complete outlet for kids. From Mathew: “The Clubs provide a safe, positive environment where kids are encouraged to explore and develop every part of themselves, and most importantly, to have a lot of fun!”

Something you may not know about Mathew, he is a self-described shameless geek with a strong affection for Star Wars as well as many other fandoms. He loves to share his geek interests with kids and colleagues.

Desni is currently attending Skagit Valley College and is working towards a teaching degree. She loves writing and her favorite genre is historical fiction. Her favorite sports is volleyball. Whenever possible, Desni takes time to explore the area, taking photos and learning more about Washington state with her Corgi and Husky.

When asked about Skagit County’s Clubs Desni says: “I am thrilled to be giving back to the community that made me who I am and helped me grow. Working with kids helps me become a better person and I’m excited not only to touch the lives of youth but to have them enhance my life as well.
