SW appoints Teen Leaders

Inaugural group of Teen Leaders at the Sedro-Woolley Boys & Girls Club!

Congratulations to the first group of Teen Leaders at the Sedro-Woolley Teen Center!

Sedro-Woolley Teen Center members who had the desire to take a more active, responsible role within The Club were given a chance to do exactly that with the Teen Leaders Program. Teen Leaders is a portion of Career Launch, a teen-specific curriculum that challenges teens to start exploring careers and teaches them skills to help acquire and maintain jobs.

The Club Members who were interested in becoming a Teen Leader participated in a week-long application process. They learned how to make a resume and cover letter as well as how to ask for and fill out a job application. They were also briefed on proper interview techniques such as show up early, don’t wear sunglasses, dress nice, and talk too much rather that not at all. Each member who turned in a resume and cover letter were interviewed by Teen Center Coordinator Patrick Dougher and a community leader – special thanks to Stephanie Hooper and Sylvia Matterand for participating on the interview panel.

At the end of the process five Teen Leaders were picked! Teen Leader Interns shown left to right:  Jesus Lopez, Teen Center Coordinator Patrick Dougher, Madisen Cork, Myranda Mitchell, Zack Eidsness, and Alissa Tregoning. These five teens will be helping Club staff run programs, conduct activities and games, and assist with the general running of the Boys & Girls Club, all while exhibiting positive behavior. Thank you Teen Leaders for your service and congratulations again!
