SW Healthy Habits gives Thanks for Food Groups

Teens learning about Thanksgiving Healthy Habits!

In the Sedro-Woolley Teen Center our Healthy Habits group learned all about which food groups are represented at the typical Thanksgiving meal. The stuffing and rolls are part of the grains group, cranberry sauce represents fruits, sweet potatoes are from the vegetable group, and the main event (the turkey) is from the meat group! And of course they asked, “What about the pie?” That’s part of the sugar group! Members also discussed their own unique family meals which included such eclectic dishes like rattlesnake stew, pumpkin chai cups and fried okra! Sounds like some tasty meals are on the way!
