Teens Tour Janicki Industries

Teens learn about job opportunities in their community.

Fourteen of the Sedro-Woolley teens visited Janicki Industries for a tour on Wednesday, January 30th, as part of the Career Launch program. Janicki employees Rich Dorsey and Will Whiton took the teens through several of the mills on site and explained the tasks and jobs of each mill. Matt Roberts, Teen Center Volunteer and Janicki Employee, treated the teens to a lecture about the equipment he works with.

Teens were able to view many different job opportunities available at a high-tech manufacturer in their own backyard. They learned how a 3D computer program is used in the design process, after which the specifications are programmed into the machines that build them. They were able to view this process in action as machines fabricated pieces that will be used on airplanes, yachts, and even outer space.  They also learned about the role education plays in obtaining the skills often necessary to work there.
